One of my lifelong aspirations is to explore the globe and provide coverage of captivating art events, such as museum and gallery openings or art festivals. During my time at My Modern Met, I had the pleasure of attending several events that left a lasting impression on me. Some notable highlights include “Art of the Streets” at MOCA in LA, the mesmerizing Vivid Sydney festival in Australia, the retrospective of Tim Burton’s works at LACMA, and the vibrant atmosphere of Art Basel in Miami. While I had the opportunity to report on various installations, there were a few that I yearned to witness firsthand. These include Jaume Plensa’s captivating exhibit at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Leandro Erlich’s mind-bending building illusion in Paris, and Tomas Saraceno’s awe-inspiring mesh orbit in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Among the plethora of art festivals, Sculpture by the Sea at Australia’s Bondi Beach holds a special allure for me. The idea of witnessing artworks positioned on the sandy shores, with the backdrop of water and light, evokes a profound sense of intrigue. I can only imagine the immersive experience of being surrounded by these magnificent creations, while the invigorating scent of the beach fills the air.
