Go find Kim.” Bubu, a Chihuahua mix, took immediate action, racing off the boat to locate Kim, the marina’s dock captain.

Rather than employing his usual energetic antics, Bubu approached Kim with a unique demeanor, signaling that something was amiss. Brady Popp, a public relations representative for CaroliEast Health System, recounted the incident, stating, “He stopped right in front of her and lay down on his side.” Bubu effectively communicated the urgency of the situation.

With Bubu leading the way, Kim returned to the boat, discovering Rudy’s stroke and promptly calling 911. Thanks to Bubu’s swift response, Rudy received the necessary medical attention, ultimately aiding in his speedy recovery.

After spending weeks in the hospital and rehabilitation center, Rudy deeply missed his loyal companion. Popp, touched by their connection, decided to organize a heartwarming reunion between Rudy and Bubu.

The day of the reunion arrived, and Rudy, filled with anticipation, was wheeled into the facility’s garden. His excitement was palpable as he awaited the arrival of his beloved Bubu and Kim. When the duo entered, Bubu initially seemed bewildered by the surroundings. However, the magic unfolded when Rudy removed his mask.

“As Rudy took off his mask, Bubu immediately recognized him, jumped onto his lap, and started licking his face,” shared Popp. “It was a beautiful moment, and everyone in the room was on the verge of tears with Rudy and Bubu’s obvious joy.”
