In the heart of Los Angeles, a cat found his way to the Best Friends Animal Society seeking not just shelter but the warmth of affection that the streets had denied him. This feline with endearing big cheeks, aptly named McCheeks, embarked on a journey to a better life, leaving behind the trials of a life on the streets.
Diane Barber of Best Friends first laid eyes on McCheeks when he arrived in early June, and it was love at first sight. The charming cheeks that earned him his name hinted at the unique and lovable soul within. Diane wasted no time and shared the delightful discovery with her coworker, Samantha Bell, who had a soft spot for scruffy street cats.
“He wasn’t just a pretty face, he was also extremely affectionate,” Samantha expressed, reflecting on her initial encounter with McCheeks. The feline, far from being just a charming visage, showered Samantha with sweet meows and affectionate gestures through the bars of his kennel.
As Samantha opened the kennel, McCheeks wasted no time snuggling up to her face, emitting gentle purrs that resonated with contentment. Held in Samantha’s arms, the feline wore a look of pure bliss, slow blinking and expressing gratitude through each gentle face snuggle.
“He’s pure love! He’s confident, friendly, easy-going, affectionate, talkative, silly,… everything you want in a cat,” Samantha praised. McCheeks effortlessly made himself at home at Best Friends, actively participating in every aspect of daily life. From demanding to be fed first to meowing for attention, this charismatic cat knew how to make his presence known.
McCheeks became a beacon of love, ensuring that everyone around him received their share of his affection. If there were two people in the room, he’d gracefully maneuver between them, soaking in as many pets and as much attention as possible. Samantha marveled at his entertaining nature, admitting she could watch him all day.
This hunk of love, with a heart as big as his cheeks, never ceased to shower hugs and kisses on those who doted on him. A former stray, McCheeks now eagerly awaits the day when he’ll find a forever home, complete with a family to call his own. At just two years old, this affectionate feline is ready to spend a lifetime in someone’s arms, proving that the journey from the streets to a loving home is a testament to the transformative power of compassion.
