A fluffy kitten who was found on a farm with his sister, really came around when he discovered joy in a foster home.A pair of kittens was found on a farm in New Hampshire and brought to Monadnock Humane Society for a chance at a better life. They were very shy and quickly took refuge upon arrival.
Connie (from Tails from the Foster Kittens) who volunteers for the Humane Society, took them home with open arms. She created a safe haven for the kittens (Peanut Butter and Jelly) to settle in and decompress, hoping that they would muster enough courage to venture out and explore.
The fluffy kitty Peanut Butter was slowly coming out of his shell. He was very curious and couldn’t resist all the new toys and scents around him. His sister Jelly hid closely behind him as if to use him as a shield.
Connie brought Jelly some treat to try to gain her trust, but only to be interrupted by Peanut Butter, who insisted on having his share of the treat first.
“Peanut Butter quickly came around to the joys of getting his chin scritched and his back scratched, but he is still hesitant in new situations,” Connie told Love Meow.
“His sister is quite afraid of people and in an attempt to make friends, I broke out the all-powerful meat baby food that no kitten can resist, to try to win her over. Peanut Butter dove in head first the first time he sniffed it.”
Every time Connie tries to build trust with Jelly, the inquisitive little brother comes running and wants to offer a helping paw under the condition that he gets paid in treats.
The wolf-like kitten is gaining confidence each day and his energy is rubbing off on his sister.
Peanut Butter and Jelly spent their first few days in their “cave” inside a bathroom and were hesitant to explore into new territories. As the little brother became braver and more curious, he began to step paw outside his comfort zone.
When everyone was asleep, Peanut Butter set out on an excursion into the spacious foster room next to the bathroom. His shy sister quietly followed his lead.
Slowly but surely, Peanut Butter grew to enjoy being in a large room where he could jump around freely and play like a kitten.
It may take Jelly some time to be confident enough to strut about during the day. Her brother Peanut Butter has fully inspected the kitty room, and seems to have given his seal of approval by playing with toys and climbing the cat trees.
He is getting bolder, braver, and more vocal every day.
