One day, a compassionate woman in the Chicago suburbs discovered a box on her porch. To her surprise, inside the box was a tiny kitten with a large wound on his neck. Reacting promptly, she provided immediate treatment and took the kitten to the nearest animal hospital. Veterinarian Elise Hall examined the cat, initially finding him shy but growing more friendly and playful as the day went on. By the end of the day, Elise decided to care for him until he could find a forever home, naming him Porg after a Star Wars character with giant eyes.
Elise soon discovered that scratching Porg’s ears and neck caused large marks on his skin. Further investigation revealed that he suffered from a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. To protect his skin and make him more comfortable, Porg often wears clothes. Elise shared, “It has been quite the difficult learning process finding what has helped keep his skin healthy and safe, but we now have our routine down, and he has been doing great.”
Aside from skin concerns, Porg also has eye disorders, managed through daily eye drop use. Despite his health challenges, Porg quickly became a cherished part of Elise’s family, and she has no intention of letting him go. Described as playful, cuddly, and funny, Porg’s unique look, with his big eyes, captivates everyone who meets him. To share Porg’s daily adventures, Elise created an Instagram page, where people can witness the lovable cat’s charming personality and resilient spirit.
