Allow us to introduce you to another internet sensation, a tiny ball of fur named Janie. Just a few months ago, this adorable kitten was discovered abandoned on the side of the road in Ontario, Canada. What makes Janie the darling of the online world, you may wonder? Well, for starters, she’s irresistibly cute. But beyond that, she boasts a uniquely-colored fur that transforms her into the spitting image of a miniature raccoon.
Rescued and brought to the Tiny but Mighty Kitten Rescue, Janie, despite her minuscule size of 82 grams, was surprisingly active and vocal. Melissa, the founder of the rescue, had a thoughtful plan in place. Janie would spend the first two weeks in an incubator, receive bottle-feeding, and, once medically cleared, be introduced to a cat mommy named June, rescued as a pregnant cat a few weeks prior. Miraculously, the plan unfolded just as envisioned.
Today, Janie stands as a testament to resilience and care, captivating the hearts of thousands worldwide. The silver coat that stole everyone’s affection is revealed to be a “fever coat,” a phenomenon that occurs when the mother cat falls ill during pregnancy. While harmless to the kitten, the distinctive color is likely to fade as Janie matures.
Bored Panda invites you to bask in the sheer adorableness of Janie through some of her most heart-melting photos. Additionally, we seized the opportunity to pose some intriguing questions to Melissa, the rescuer extraordinaire, and you’ll find her enlightening responses down below.
