In the heart of Kuwait, two tabby kittens embarked on a journey of resilience and love after being found abandoned and frail on the unforgiving streets. The compassionate souls at Kuwait Animal Aid intervened, scooping up the sisters who were mere shadows of what they could become. One of the kittens, Shiva, bore a congenital deformity affecting the right side of her face.
Transported to a foster home, the trio, including Shiva’s sister Vishnu and a third littermate Amani, became the focus of round-the-clock care. Despite the odds stacked against these “unwanted” kittens, the volunteers of Kuwait Animal Aid remained steadfast in their commitment to giving them a chance at a better life.
Through tireless efforts, Shiva and Vishnu, though initially skin and bones, began to thrive. Amani faced a viral infection and had to be separated for treatment. Shiva, with a missing right eye and a cleft nose, didn’t let her condition hinder her spirit. Bouncing around and wrestling with her sister, she embraced life with unmatched enthusiasm.
Kuwait Animal Aid collaborated with partner rescues in the US, ensuring that these deserving kittens could find forever homes. Their journey took them across the ocean to California, where Rafiki’s Rescue in Anaheim took them under their wing.
Shiva’s congenital condition required specialized care and diagnostics. Despite her unique challenges, Shiva became one of the most playful and energetic kittens at the rescue. A CT scan and consultations with specialists revealed that there were no surgical options for her nasal passage, but the resilient feline continued to embrace each day with joy.
“Shiva hasn’t a clue that life could get any better than it already is. She is truly full of joy each and every day,” shared Megan of Rafiki’s Rescue.
The sisters, Shiva and Vishnu, blossomed into beautiful young cats under the care of Rafiki’s Rescue. A wonderful couple, enchanted by their playful personalities, chose to embark on a foster-to-adopt journey. The sisters found a home where they thrived, surrounded by love, endless purrs, and the company of new puppy friends.
The third littermate, Amani, also completed her recovery journey and made the trip to Rafiki’s Rescue. Now, she too seeks a loving home, ready to add her unique charm to a family willing to embrace her.
In the tapestry of these kittens’ lives, the streets of Kuwait became a distant memory as they found solace, love, and a place to call home. Their journey is a testament to the power of compassion and the transformative impact it can have on lives once deemed “unwanted.”
