Suffering, a word we instinctively avoid, often prompts us to seek ways to eliminate or cope with it. However, for our feline friends, like the resilient and adorable Frankie from New South Wales, Australia, suffering is met with an unwavering spirit and an ability to shine through adversity.
Frankie, a remarkable feline born with four ears, was discovered hiding under a suburban house along with a sibling. The compassionate homeowners, witnessing the hardships faced by these cats, decided to take two of them home. However, Frankie stood out due to his unique features – two primary ears and two supporting ones, an overbite, and the loss of one eye due to a necessary operation.
Georgi Anderson, an animal shelter staff member and pet foster carer, was tasked with caring for Frankie during his recovery from an eye infection. Anderson revealed, “The eye removal allowed him to survive as the infection would have become septic and killed him.”
Frankie’s journey to recovery was challenging, requiring dental surgery for his overbite and an operation to stabilize his hind legs. Despite the hurdles, Anderson, deeply moved by Frankie’s gentle nature and uniqueness, committed to helping him heal.
Frankie’s distinctive set of ears includes two primary ones and two supporting ones, and his overbite gives his face an angular appearance. Despite these challenges, Frankie’s cuteness remains unaffected.
Despite Frankie’s physical challenges, including an overbite making it difficult for him to bite wet food, he quickly adapted to Anderson’s home, displaying quirky traits as he explored his surroundings.
Frankie’s four ears have a unique function: the smaller front ears mildly affect his directional hearing, acting like little earmuffs for his primary ears.
Due to the removal of one eye, Frankie’s night vision isn’t as robust as that of other cats, but he adjusts well. His jaw issues make eating wet food a challenge, but Frankie has adapted to a dry food-only diet.
Frankie’s playful and cheeky personality shines through despite his leg problems. Anderson lovingly describes his daily routine, filled with cuddles, playtime, and comforting purrs.
Frankie shares his home with cat and dog siblings, engaging in playful antics and bringing joy to Anderson’s life. His cheeky character has won the hearts of 50K Instagram followers.
Frankie’s imperfections only add to his charm, capturing the affection of many who admire his resilience and loving nature. His unique story serves as a reminder that even in the face of challenges, the spirit of a cat like Frankie can bring warmth and joy to those around him.
