After being discovered with a headband tightly knotted around her snout, an abused puppy was handed over to an animal shelter that strictly prohibits euthanasia.
The headband was “completely embedded, reaching down to the bone,” causing significant swelling and tripling the size of her face.
Cincinnati Animal CARE in the United States provided her with “urgent care,” removing the headband and stitching up the enormous hole.
The shelter staff named her Tiffany in honor of their “favorite 80s pop artist.”
It is believed that the headband was used to prevent the puppy from barking, as is common with such restraints.
The horrific extent of the abuse was revealed through the shocking posts on the animal center’s Facebook.
Tiffany handled her emergency care like a “champion,” according to the rescue team, and spent the night with a member of the medical team.
Currently, Tiffany is “healing well, eating and drinking properly,” according to a recent update, and is being cared for by the good Samaritan who found her.
Tiffany’s swelling has decreased dramatically, and her face is now stitched up and healing.
Cincinnati Animal CARE is seeking information about Tiffany and her abuser, and PETA has even offered a reward for anyone who can lead to an arrest.
Those with information about the incident can call the Hamilton County Dog Wardens at 513-541-7387.
The latest update on Tiffany! “Yesterday, our wonderful girl visited us at the shelter! Her sutures look beautiful, she is recovering wonderfully, and she is doing great in her foster home with the kind people who gave her to us!” said Cincinnati Animal CARE on their Facebook page.
It’s amazing how resilient animals are—this female is a happy, healthy, and thriving puppy!
