From the beginning, it was evident that this special-needs puppy named Lundy truly needed a friend. And he found one in the most unlikely place.
Lundy, born with a condition that hindered his ability to walk properly, was entrusted to the care of The Mia Foundation in New York, specializing in assisting animals with disabilities.
That’s when Lundy met Herman, a pigeon who understands what it’s like to be different.
As it turns out, Herman and Lundy have a lot in common. The pigeon, much like the puppy, had been brought to The Mia Foundation last year, unable to fly due to an injury or illness. Both have enormous hearts.
The caregivers at The Mia Foundation recently introduced Herman and Lundy, placing them on the same comfortable bed. But, while it might have seemed like an odd pairing, Herman and Lundy clearly didn’t see it that way.
Herman and Lundy delved deeper and found a new friend in each other.
What ensued was a delightful snuggling party, where both the puppy and the pigeon enjoyed each other’s warm company.
Herman, the elder of the two, seemed to know exactly what Lundy needed.
Although both were brought to The Mia Foundation due to challenges, their budding friendship is the perfect happy ending to everything they have been through.
Undoubtedly, life will present animals with special needs like Herman and Lundy with some challenges more than others, but with the love of their caregivers and others, these challenges will never be faced alone.
